Château de Galinée Campsite

Château de Galinée Campsite

Château de Galinée Campsite is a lovely, spacious and relaxing family-run four star campsite situated in a quiet spot in the lovely small town of St Cast le Guildo on the north coast of Brittany. It is part of the quality Castels chain of campsites. There are wide, grassy pitches and as well as the play areas, there is lots of extra space for children to run around, making it one of the best French campsites for kids !

This site is situated in a rural setting, inland from the excellent beaches of St Cast. It has an excellent outdoor swimming complex with outdoor pools, a children's pool and an indoor pool.

The small town of St Cast has everything that a holiday town should have - some nice shops as well as some nice restaurants and cafes. There is a toy shop, a small supermarket and a small play park in the small town centre where you can sit back and have a coffee on a cafe terrace while the children play at a play park which is ideal ! There are markets twice a week with some excellent local produce. There is also a golf course in St Cast so its ideal for golfers!

St Cast has a beautiful wide sandy beach with watersports etc. which stretches for quite a distance. To the other side of St Cast there are other lovely beaches as well. There are also various walks and cycles to explore and the small town itself has some nice lanes to wander round and explore. Things to do in the Area

St Malo

st malo images

The walled town of St Malo is definitely worth a visit. There are many fantastic shops and restaurants within its walls. You can also enjoy watching the artists or if you are brave enough you can have your caricature painted !

The town has a fantastic history stretching back to the days of pirates, or corsaires, who set off from here, and leading right up to the recent history during the second world war in 1944 when many buildings within the walled town were bombed. The restoration job is so well done that you would never guess that many of the buildings have been restored.

The 2 hour walk around the ramparts will give you some magnificent views of the coast and islands. There are many access points to the ramparts so you can chose to join or leave them at many points.

There is always something to see around the port area. Here is a tall ship from the Tall Ships Race 2006 at St Malo. St Malo has an excellent bus Park and Ride facility which is a great way to get into the walled city.

Other days out from St Cast include :

The Grand Aquarium at St Malo

This is well worth a visit. To visit the website of the Grand Aquarium, click here : Grand Aquarium Website

Cobac Park

This theme park is at Lanhélin, 46 km away and is a great day out for families with children. Also an Aqua Fun Parc - Cobac Parc Website

Mont St Michel

Mont St Michel is a magnificent abbey on an island. It was one of the first sites to be included on UNESCO's World Heritage List. Tmont st michelhis is busy but well worth a visit if you haven't already been to this most visited Tourist Attraction in France ! The narrow streets can get busy in high season and you may find them difficult with very young children and buggies. If you have young children and are desperate to see it then it might be a good idea to try and get there as early as possible to avoid the crowds.

A lovely town with a medieval atmosphere and old streets with beautifully restored, picturesque half timbered buildings. It is possible to take a boat trip from here on the Rance estuary which is well worth doing. If you have young children with you then they will enjoy the zoo in the park of the Chateau de la Bourbansais where you can view all sorts of wild animals in the zoo as well as walk among lemurs. They also have one of the finest packs of horses and hounds in France who will demonstrate hunting at certain times.

The Parc des Grandes Chenes

The Parc des Grandes Chenes, near Dol de Bretagne, with its miniature port on its boating lake and a fantastic mountain zipwire /high ropes course with children's courses that are not too high. The adult courses on the site vary in height but some are scarily high in our opinion! The children's courses have all the same challenges but not at such a horrendous height! Website link
